During this month we have moved to another location, and there were some descisions to make. One was this car. The fact that I've done nothing with it for the last years made me think it's propably time do admit the facts and give up. Thinking back to '03 makes me realize that I should've kept the car as it was, only fixing some visual stuff and just drive around. But late '03 I started this restoration work, but as many other people's projects, this never got done.

So let's see some photos from the last 6+ years

I had been looking for a special and/or old Mk1 for a while, and during a drunken trip to Kerava I saw one in a parking lot.

I called the owner a few times and went to get it - Fiesta 1.1S, made 5/76 - month before the Fiesta was launched.

First I had a 1.4 CVH in it and just drove around that summer.

Next spring I uprated the brakes before the season.

The season started with someone stealing the radio the 1st night out.

Got the paperwork done for a 1.6 (1.4 still in)

Eventually I had the 1.6 with twincarbs and a Kent Cams camshaft in it.

Then I stripped the car and started the bodywork - the ultimate mistake.

The car still looked fine, and now while I'm writing this, I feel 'a bit' disappointed and sad.

Some new parts.

Still looking good.

The original welder lost interest and I had to try on my own. This is when the disaster started closing in.

I had a friend of mine do the welding ewvery once in a while and it all went just fine, but I didn't dare to chase him all the time and still tried to carry on on my own.

Then I found this in the front left of the car. You could say this was the final setback after which nothing really happened.

After a year, cleaned up the carage and tried one more attempt.

Got me even a XR3i exhaust.

But after that - nothing. Later that year I got me a Mk2 for the summer, and a Mk3 which I still have and use and this Mk1 was just waiting for it's time.

And it's time came.

Recent years it had just a 'warehouse' for everything. And now 'the everything' had to go.

Our carage was a bit 'up the hill' so had to make some 'adjustments' to get it down. First came the towtruck.

Connected with ropes.

And then - a breath of fresh air.

Guys had to do the steering from the wheels.

And it all went like in the movies.

The final meters

Some last parts out

And then just waiting..

And..

And that's the end of that. For 'normal people' this was just a series of photos and the story wasn't even a story, but anyone who's had a project like this, with all the plans and time used and stuff like that, know better.
