NOTE!
The speakers on all photos are VX 130's
The speakers are mounted on the doors as shown in the photos. The box volume is about
7L and it's filled with cotton wool. The mid-bass range isn't anything to party about,
but maybe I'll get a pair of 6" subs some day to deal with that.
|
Even if the speakers are left a bit behind the legs, the sound is balanced enough
even without any adjustments on the balanceknob. And the installation doesn't
make exiting the car any more difficult, though getting in requires some
carefulness. Now that I've replaced those VX 130's with VRX 130's, I've also
installed the 'shield nets' that come with them.
|
The reason I changed the front speakers was that this installation unfortunately
doesn't sound very good, there seems to be a little problem at arount 2-4Khz that
makes the sound too 'raw' for my ears. With these new VRX's the problem got a
bit smaller, but still excists. The EQ of the head unit (Blaupunkt San Francisco)
can't fix the problem completely, altough it makes my life much easier. With the
old speakers I've tried a DSP (Pioneer) that has much more versatile EQ options
and that helped a lot, unfortunately I can't afford any kind of DSP right now
so I'll just have to cope with this problem for now.
